An opportunity is a set of circumstances that makes it possible to do something. It can come in many forms and is often missed by many. It is missed by so many because people don’t see opportunities in difficult situations. Never lose an opportunity because you think you don’t see it. They don’t just knock on the door. Learn to take advantage of every situation, even the worst ones, because there is an opportunity in every situation!

“Entrepreneurs are simply those who understand that there is little difference between obstacle and opportunity and are able to turn both to their advantage”

Supreme Court on Birth Control

Today the Supreme Court ruled that private companies with religious objections could now refuse to pay for emergency contraceptives for women. It’s a company’s choice. The 5-4 ruling is a result of the family run business, Hobby Lobby that fought an ObamaCare Provision.

So what does this mean? First of all this is another stumbling block to ObamaCare. Now the Obama Administration must search for a different way to provide free contraceptives to women. Secondly, a company’s religious view trumped a woman’s right to contraceptives and jeopardizes her health. Lastly, this ruling will only create an increase in higher premiums and medical costs when pregnancy rates increase or abortions rise.

This new rule, even though it only pertains to emergency contraceptives such as the “morning after” pill can have a major impact on the future of birth control overall. Since when does a woman’s boss get to make decisions about her health? If such contraceptives violate religious freedom, shouldn’t a woman have the right to make that decision and not her boss?

This decision opens the floodgates to future cases for companies to continue to deny employees’ benefits based on their beliefs. Private companies win because it gives them more rights and employees at private companies lose. Don’t be surprised if other private companies follow Hobby Lobby’s example. This is just the beginning…

Growing In Life

My Story

Did you know that death, divorce and losing a job are the most traumatic experiences in life? Learning and growing from these experiences is a journey and each of these experiences is a lesson in learning about growing in life.

As a first time blogger I am learning from these traumatic experiences and using the lessons learned from each experience to move forward. As a single mom who raised a boy into a young 25-year old man and now as a grandmother, life has taught me many lessons. I lost my job of 21 years with the same company, which was very traumatic. I lost several friends and relationships, some due to death, and realized the importance of true friendships, integrity, and humility. But through it all I continue to grow and I am pursuing a new journey now.

On this new journey, I am learning how to re-brand myself with the power of Social Media. I recently obtained my certification as a Social Media Strategist and now I want to share this knowledge and help others utilize Social Media for their business or personal life. There is a lack of diversity in the Social Media Industry and I want to change this by introducing others to Social Media and teaching them the power of it while helping future entrepreneurs with engaging content to grow. I can create content to help others reach their dreams while teaching them about Social Media.

I hope you enjoy my blogs about everyday life conversations and social media and my website, http://www.iamjenniferjones.com. Please follow me on Twitter @iamjennjones and Facebook http://www.facebook.com/pages/Iamjenniferjones/283982795115614

Sometimes we must fail in order to know.

Sometimes we must lose in order to gain.
